The first stone of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ciudad Acuña (MACCA) is placed

Today, November 20, 2024, a historical milestone is marked for Ciudad Acuña with the placement of the first stone of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ciudad Acuña (MACCA), a dream that took form approximately 10 years ago under the leadership of the recognized painter Gustavo Ramos Rivera. This ambitious project seeks to position the city in the national and international cultural map, lodging a collection of artists of world-wide stature that will place it at the level of the great museums of the country.

In this first stage, a temporary precinct will be built, designed to initiate cultural activities and serve as a platform to encourage citizen and business participation. This joint effort is expected to raise the necessary funds to bring the master project to life: a modern, multifunctional museum that will be a source of pride for the region.

The design of the temporary facility, by architect Gabriel Ramos Rivera, Gustavo's brother, combines beauty and modernity, using sustainable and reusable materials. This space is not only functional, but also symbolizes a commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility.

The construction of MACCA will have a profound impact on the local economy, cultural access and the social fabric. It will be a place where the children and youth of Ciudad Acuña will be able to explore and cultivate their love for the arts, promoting the integral development of future generations, as well as providing new opportunities for personal and group development in this society, by being exposed to different disciplines of expression.

This achievement would not have been possible without the invaluable support of the board of trustees and friends who have believed in this project since its conception. Their dedication and commitment have been fundamental in making this first step towards a future full of possibilities for the community.

MACCA will not only be a museum, but an engine of cultural, economic and social transformation that will inspire Ciudad Acuña and beyond. The story is just beginning!
